Dealer group Halliwell Jones expands with its first mainstream car brand


AM100 dealer group Halliwell Jones, a long time parter with BMW and Mini in the North West of England, has acquired its first non-premium brand franchise.

It has acquired the Kia franchise for Southport, which had been previously held by Chapelhouse Motor Company until 2024.

Chapelhouse’s site in Southport’s Liverpool Road retains its Suzuki and MG dealerships and a used car outlet.

Halliwell Jones Kia began trading in March at Southport Road, in a showroom that previously held Mini, while the Mini operation has been reincorporated into the group’s neighbouring BMW site.

“This exciting addition to our portfolio reflects our continued commitment to growth and investment in Southport while creating new local career opportunities,” the company said.

halliwell jones kia southport 2025 opening w800Southport was where Halliwell Jones originated, opening its first BMW showroom 35 years ago, before expanding to represent the premium German marque at Chester, Warrington, North Wales, and Wilmslow. 

halliwell jones kia southport 2025 opening 2 w268In 2022, Halliwell Jones began to diversify by opening its first BMW Motorrad dealership and a 4×4 Centre in Chester, specialising in INEOS Grenadier and pre-owned 4×4 models.

It has also invested substantially in its existing businesses. Last year it relocated its Wilmslow BMW and Mini businesses into multi-million pound new showrooms, incorporating the carmaker’s latest Retail.next corporate identity, at a new five-acre site at Coppice Way, directly opposite the Handforth Dean Retail Park.
