A glazing company involved in the Laing O’Rourke-led construction of Everton Stadium has ceased trading.
Alucraft Systems filed a notice to appoint administrators on Thursday (14 March), just a month after it celebrated installing an “initial batch of cladding panels” on the £505m Everton stadium build at Bramley-Moore Dock.
It got the job to deliver curtain walling, aluminium rainscreen and composite cladding at the new stadium in February 2023, two months before it started work on site.
Last month, the firm said in a post on LinkedIn that it was “making great progress on the prestigious Everton Stadium project”. It added that it was in the process of installing glazing on the inclined curtain-wall screen on the southern side.
Alucraft had also installed the first batch of cladding panels, and had scheduled more installations. It is unclear whether it has since finished its work at the stadium.
The firm, which is part of The Clarison Group, penned a pre-tax loss of £5.7m in its last annual results, for the year to 31 December 2022. That was more than double the £2.4m loss tabled the year before.
Turnover, however, was up from £14.9m to £18.7m.
The Clarison Group had provided the firm with a “letter of support” for the period up to the end of 2024, according to Alucraft’s accounts, published in January.
“The directors have determined based on recent trading and projected cash flows of [Clarison], of which [Alucraft] is a part, that [Clarison] is able to meet its liabilities for the period to 31 December 2024,” the accounts state.
