I’ll admit it: Every time I watch The Pitt, I spend much of the episode covering my eyes. I just don’t like where they’re finding cockroaches on that show! But when I’m not holding up my hands to block my view of the gruesome things happening on screen, I am grateful to see Noah Wyle, former ER star, doing his thing. His calm, handsome presence almost makes up for all the blood, stress, and misplaced invertebrates.
And since The Pitt’s undeniable success means Max is currently gearing up for a second season, Wyle is still on the promotional trail, bringing his even-keeled vibe to the late-night circuit. Since he’s been playing a TV doctor on and off for the last 15 years, it’s rare that we get to see the actor in his off-duty attire. We got a rare glimpse, though, when Wyle headed into the Jimmy Kimmel Live studios in Los Angeles earlier this week.
He was dressed comfortably in a coffee-toned knit varsity jacket from Dehen 1920, a century-old clothing brand based in Oregon. The rest of his outfit was equally unassuming and refreshingly age-appropriate: well-worn Jack Purcell sneakers in navy—a color that Converse doesn’t even manufacture anymore, meaning Wyle’s presumably hung onto these for a while—and slim blue jeans. (It doesn’t feel like a coincidence that, at 53, Noah Wyle is the exact same age as Walton Goggins, who is also a slim-jeans loyalist.)
In the anything-goes era of celebrity menswear, Wyle looked just about as un-hypey as you could get. In other words, he dressed exactly how a veteran star should.
